Labels:text | screenshot | font | number | document OCR: Step Description SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE This will disconnect any sessions still connected, rolling back any uncommitted data. STARTUP RESTRICT This brings up the database so users cannot connect, allowing you to perform o normal shutdown before the backup (recommended by Oracle). I run scripts here to dynamically determine the data files, log files, and control files associated with the database, J.e. the physical database tilos that must be backed up. I run these three queries: & SELECT Name FROM v$datafile [determines all the dotofiles). N SELECT Member FROM v$logfile (determines all the log files) @ SELECT Name FROM v$controlfile (determines all the control files). SHUTDOWN NORMAL This shuts down the database so the files can be backed up. O/S backup An operating system backup of the physical database files, the archived log files, and the database scripts is performed. STARTUP NORMAL Restart the database for normal use.
